What a day! With Luulia and friends in Turku, I was on my own for the day. I had a great start to my day by getting myself lost - something I am notoriously good at doing. In the morning, there was an embarrassing mix up with the school I was supposed to be at. Today, I had a meeting with the headmaster of the other location connected to the school I'm usually at, if that makes any sense. My host family, though, did not understand this and accidentally dropped me off at the wrong school. It took a lot of confusion and asking questions to find my way to the school I was supposed to be at which was, luckily, close by.

Once I had got to the school, the meeting went very well and I was able to gather vital information about the school(s) for my project. After school, I got picked up and we drove to the city market to buy contact lens solution for myself and grab some food. We ended up going to this fast food place called Hesburger. This, altogether, was a very interesting experience. Hesburger is basically like the Finnish McDonalds, though they have that too. I saw lots of funny similarities. I ordered a sort of grilled cheese sandwich with tomato which, to be honest, was not very good but was fun to eat nonetheless.
After eating, we went home. For an hour or so, we rested and got work done at home then headed out to see my very first Finnish baseball game. At a stadium nearby, one of the best women Finnish baseball tens was to play which was very exciting. The reason why Finnish baseball is not just called baseball is because it is not just baseball. It is so different and, in my opinion, so much more. Basically, Finnish baseball is a game invented originally to train soldiers for war. Therefore, it is much more complex and requires a lot more strategy. After getting a quick lesson about the many rules and strategies, we watched the game. To say the least, it was great! Besides the fact that it initially took a lot of thinking to understand what was going on, the game was lots of fun to watch. The women players were very good and the excited environment was fun to be in.
After the game, we headed home and spent the rest of the night relaxing and having a good time together. My host parents began to try to teach me Finnish which was very amusing and funny as I kept messing up the words. We went to bed in good spirits that night.
