Hello everyone!
I'm sorry my posts are so late! This post is from a couple days ago and, though I had it mostly written, I did not post it. I will also update Monday's and Tuesday's posts asap.
So today was International Mother's Day - a day to say thank you to moms everywhere for being awesome and putting up with us kids. (Shoutout to my mom, you rock!) Anyways, as I said at the end of yesterday's post, my host family, their grandparents, and I all went for a nice brunch together at a buffet. It was extremely fun and I got to try all kinds of foods, most of them including interesting ways of eating potato and cheese :)
After that, we simply headed home and got time to relax and get work done. It was a very nice and carefree time and I was able to get much work done and feel very content. Unfortunately, I was also very tired and a tiny bit congested though due to the jet lag and different climate. We relaxed for a while and then all decided to have fun and go to a playground. We made such a random decision because I had told
my host family that I have never been on a see saw and it used to be my life's dream. They were shocked and decided that I needed that life changing experience right away! As we set off and passed through Jyvaskyla, they talked a little about the city to me and I learned a lot of new stuff I have never known. One of the most interesting was that Finland has over 10,000 lakes!! Thay was crazy news to me who comes from dry and drought-stricken California. Anyways, we headed out to the play ground but, before getting there, we decided to stop by a parlor for some ice cream! Man did they have so many interesting flavours I have never tried! After a long time of going back and forth, I finally decided to try a pear flavoured ice cream. It was SO yummy! One thing I appreciate about Finns is that they do not like things that are very sweet so all their candies and sweets are a nice balance of flavour and sweetness. The ice cream was perfect and didn't make me feel guilty about myself afterwards.
